Since 1993, when the ECT terminal in the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands built the world's first automated container terminal,
As the most technologically advanced field of terminal construction in the world today, automated terminals have been promoted
 and applied in many ports in Europe, North America, Asia, and Oceania.
Since the completion of Xiamen Yuanhai Automated Terminal in March 2016, Shanghai Yangshan Phase IV, Qingdao Qianwan
 Phase I and Phase II, Tianjin Wuzhou International and other newly built or renovated automated container terminals (including 
fully automated terminals and yard automated terminals) ) Have been built and put into operation one after another.
This year, 3 fully automated terminals in Mawan of Shenzhen, Shijiu of Rizhao, and Section C of Tianjin Port Beijiang have 
been completed and put into operation one after another.
Judging from the actual operating conditions, my country's automated terminals are operating stably, with gradual improvement in
 loading and unloading efficiency, and good operating conditions, which have played a good demonstration effect.
The Shanghai Port Yangshan Phase IV project opened in December 2017 is the world’s largest automated terminal.
In the first year of operation, the container throughput will be 2.013 million TEU, the container throughput will be 4.2 million TEU in
 2020, and it is expected to exceed 5.7 million TEU in 2021.
Qingdao Qianwan Automated Terminal has been in operation for more than 4 years. It has repeatedly set the world record of 
packing by itself, creating an average operation efficiency of 36.2 natural containers per hour.
The world record for the highest operating efficiency of 43.8 natural containers/hour, which is far more efficient than similar foreign
 terminals, and has won many international awards.
On the basis of assimilating foreign experience, my country has fully mastered the key technologies of the entire chain of 
automated terminal design and construction, equipment manufacturing, system integration and operation management, and has 
realized the transformation from "following and running to leading".
At present, my country has achieved a large number of innovations in the overall layout of the terminal, loading and unloading
 technology, intelligent gates, yard coordination, Beidou and the application of "5G" technology:
It pioneered the technology of “one-key anchoring” of the whole site rail crane, and the robot disassembly and assembly twist lock
 system; combined with the actual situation of various places, it explored new types of fully automated terminal layouts such as 
“shore arrangement” and “U-shaped arrangement”. Rizhao Port will be put into operation this year Shijiu Container Terminal 
became the first open fully automatic terminal along the shore;
On the basis of automated guided vehicle (AGV) relying on ground magnetic nails, innovatively developed new in-port transportation
tools such as unmanned trucks, artificial intelligence handling robots (ART), and intelligent guided transport vehicles (IGV), which 
greatly enriches automation The connotation and scope of application of wharf construction;
Tianjin Beijiang Section C actively builds green docks and zero-carbon docks, pioneering technologies such as "stacking yard
 horizontally arranged side loading and unloading + centralized unlocking of single trolleys on the ground" and "intelligent horizontal
 transportation system";
Shenzhen Mawan actively builds a smart port, pioneering a global, full-time, full-working, and multi-element traditional container 
terminal upgrade solution, which solves the industry problems in the all-weather collaborative management and control field of
mixed manual driving and smart driving.
In terms of the "brain"-production management system (TOS system) and "nerve"-equipment control system (ECS system) of 
automated container terminals, my country has gradually realized the autonomous control of key core technologies.
For example, the fourth phase of Shanghai Yangshan, Xiamen Ocean Ocean, and Shenzhen Mawan have adopted domestic 
TOS systems. The ECS system produced by Shanghai Zhenhua has been widely used.
In the process of independent research and exploration, in accordance with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s request to “build a
world-class smart port and green port”, a large number of courageous responsibilities, represented by Qingdao Port’s “Liangang 
Innovation Team”, emerged. Port people who dare to be the first.
On the basis of summing up experience, the Ministry of Transport organized the compilation and release of the world's first 
"Automated Container Terminal Design Specification" and "Automated Container Terminal Construction Guide", forming a Chinese 
standard.
The construction of my country's automated terminal has contributed to the world's "Chinese plan", highlights China's wisdom and
 strength, and greatly enhances the international image and influence of my country's ports.
At present, my country’s automated container terminal construction technology and standards have gone abroad, and automated
 terminals such as Israel’s Haifa Port and Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Port Phase II have been laid out on the general layout,
The loading and unloading process has adopted my country's technical standards, among which the automated terminal of Haifa
 Port in Israel has adopted the production management system independently developed by Shanghai Port.
